Safe @ Home
My submission to United Nation’s Global Call to Creatives in 2020. It didn’t get selected but I still really enjoyed this project, and it felt deeply personal and relevant as the whole world is now getting to experience the extremity and restrictions in our daily lives as disabled/chronically ill people.

The Ask
The UN has identified six key areas of public activation most essential right now. Together these make up six “mini-briefs” or episodes:
1. Personal hygiene
2. Social distancing
3. Know the symptoms
4. Kindness contagion
5. Myth busting
6. Do more, donate
I chose the Personal Hygiene brief, and it stated four areas of focus:
1. Hand washing
2. Reduce face touching
3. Respiratory hygiene
4. Staying home
The Idea
I created a fun, digitally accessible AR filter inspired by Facebook’s Crisis Response Safety Check feature to further emphasize our stay-at-home orders. It seemed advantageous and logical to choose an already recognizable feature being used globally on social to mark safety from a disaster, and in this case, a global pandemic.
This Facebook filter was created so that participants can easily try it out in real-time with the empowering message of being safe at home, while the distance reminder emanates from the flag, and share with their friends. Safe @ Home went live on Instagram on April 27, 2020, making 4.5 K impressions by the end of the year.
